“Shokkin Kamp: Your Decision to Act!” is a local ESC solidarity project implemented by Shokkin Group Estonia, funded by the European Solidarity Corps and supported by the Estonian National Agency Noorteagentuur. The project consists of five 24-hour events which involve youngsters aged 16-24 from Estonia.

The first Shokkin Kamp: Your Decision to Act Vol.1 event, which took place right before the summer, was quite conveniently focused on the topic of employability. After getting to Kloogaranna Noortelaager and setting up, we started our non-formal education activities with getting to know each other. The participants learned about the project and the planned outcomes.

The first session was based on participants’ experience in working in various fields. We discussed different aspects related to company structures, types of contracts and workers’ qualities. After that we went into more details about the types of people in terms of communication styles & behavior (DISC model) and discussed how to deal with these in different situations.

The second session was a career building session. The main motto was – “Going deeply into our hearts and minds to find what lives we want to build and learning to support each other with that.” First the competence model was introduced. Then we did a bit of guided visualization with our eyes closed.

During this part we imagined our paths to specific goals and possible steps in-between. Later we had a quick session of writing the immediate steps and tasks that have to be done for the goal to be achieved. After that came the intro to coaching with following coaching sessions in pairs.

After two intensive sessions it was time to do a bit more active things. The activity included team work challenges – the whole group had to solve a couple of tasks while blindfolded. After the participants had a chance to reflect on the teamwork and their own involvement in these tasks.

The evening at the kamp was full of board games, singing with guitar and sharing thoughts and opinions about various topics.

The second day started with a session about setting life goals using SMART method. After that, the EUROPASS CV format was introduced. We looked at this useful tool for creating the CVs and later worked on creating our ‘maximum CVs’. These were then tailored by each of the participants for a specific job position of their choice.

The sessions were finalized with Shokkin Group’s own Job Interview card game, where players in pairs run an interview for a specific job.

Shokkin Kamp: Your Decision to Act Vol.1 was then concluded with a reflection session and an intro to the following Shokkin Kamp volumes happening soon. Shortly after the Shokkin Kamp, participants received SHOKKINpasses as a confirmation of participation in the event.

Thanks to everyone for participating and joining this #Shokkin experience. See you in July for the Vol.2!
