Description:

“To Be a Person is to Be a Story” will be an international Erasmus+ Youth Exchange organized by Ticket2Europe. The main activity of the project will take place in the surroundings of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) during the period 18th-26th September, 2018, including 32 participants from 5 European countries (Spain, Estonia, Sweden, Denmark and The Netherlands).

The aim of this project is to introduce and promote storytelling as a means to address social exclusion and inequity by enabling young people to work in an international context and to learn how to use it in future actions within their local communities, thus encouraging them to become active citizens.

With our project we intend to spread awareness on this reality by creating a group of multipliers who can contribute to this goal within their local communities and advance towards effective means to combat inequality, exclusion and discrimination.

By proposing simple tools, we can offer visibility to those who are often unvoiced and provide them with a sense of agency and power to be part of society by sharing their life experiences with others through exploring the method of storytelling and organizing a Human Library event with the local community in Galicia.

Participant’s profile:

“To Be a Person is To Be a Story” will bring together 30 youngsters between the ages 17 to 25 years with a mix of socio-cultural backgrounds. Ideally, participants will be youngsters who have faced inequity and/or social exclusion or have fewer opportunities because of personal, economic, cultural, social, linguistic or geographic obstacles.

Participants will not be required to have any sort of previous experience with volunteering or international programmes, but they will be highly motivated to become change-makers in their communities by engaging in future actions that will help to raise awareness on the topic of social inclusion and equity together with their sending organizations.

Participants are expected to have a good level of English that will allow smooth communication and be willing and committed to actively participate in ALL sessions. Besides, participants should commit to keep to the deadlines, carry out the preparatory tasks asked for by the organizers and be willing to follow‐up on the youth exchange in co‐operation with their sending organisation.
