The “My On(the)line” youth exchange brought together young people from across Europe to explore digital identity, online self-expression, and healthy relationships with technology.

Instead of demonizing social media, the project encouraged us to reflect on our digital habits, learn to use online tools more intentionally, and understand their impact on mental health. It was a chance to step away from our digital routines, connect with ourselves and others, and discover healthier, more mindful ways of engaging online.

“The ‘My On(the)line’ youth exchange was an amazing opportunity to reflect on my own digital habits and understand why I use social media. I really enjoyed the balance between self reflection and group activities, which helped us connect as a team. One highlight was our phone free day at the beach or in Riga, it showed how much easier and more meaningful communication can be without screens.

While I gained many new insights, the most valuable thing I take from this project is the friendships I made. Being surrounded by people from different cultures was truly eye opening, and sharing our traditions and perspectives made the whole experience even more special.”

Initially I thought the exchange would mainly be about reflecting on my digital habits, which I certainly did, but it also took an unexpected turn for me. The biggest outcome was gaining the confidence to start using social media as a professional tool, helping me share my ideas and values more openly. Having the project in the countryside made the experience even more meaningful, as we weren’t distracted by the noise and fast pace of city life.

This exchange truly helped me grow as a person, giving me valuable knowledge about both myself and the digital world we live in. Most importantly, I still carry the warmth and inspiration from the people I met there.”

“The My On(the)line’ youth exchange helped me realize how much technology influences my daily life and how important it is to find balance between online and offline moments. I really enjoyed the variety of workshops and the open atmosphere that made it easy to share and connect with others. What I take with me are not only new perspectives and useful tools for healthier digital habits, but also warm memories and friendships that made this experience unforgettable.”

“The ‘My On(the)line’ project was a unique experience that really challenged me to rethink how I use technology in everyday life. What I liked the most was how practical the workshops were: instead of just talking about the problems of social media, we explored real strategies for creating healthier boundaries and using it in a positive way.

Another highlight for me was the international environment: learning from others, sharing ideas, and seeing how young people from different cultures deal with the same challenges. This exchange gave me not only new knowledge, but also confidence to make small changes in my own routine.

I leave the project feeling motivated, supported, and grateful for the friendships and inspiration I found here.”
