The team of Critical Escape in Shokkin Group has been working on building portable educational escape rooms for a while now. We have been getting on nicely – after some thorough research and brainstorming, the two main topics of the rooms have been chosen and story lines written.

The first team works on the topic of drugs and their effect on the body. As this controversial topic is more or less present in the lives of many youth, we decided to give an accurate overview of how drugs can damage a person through a very hands-on experience, using an escape room. We are currently building all the technical solutions, which there are quite a few of – it is not easy to replicate the complex systems of the human body!

The other team is working on another important topic – communication and the lack of it in our world. Our room concentrates on the effects of the growing social media epidemic and portrays a potential future outcome. Much more cannot be said without spoilers, but it’s definitely a fun room with an eye-opening theme.

Working on these topics has greatly improved our teamwork skills, as well as shed a lot of new light on these topics of obvious importance. Currently we are scouting for necessary materials for building the rooms, perfecting the puzzles and assembling everything. This a very fun part of the process, but also very intense – there is still a lot to be done and we are all juggling our schedules to fit enough hours of building and testing into our plans. The creators and mentors have both been working hard and it is great to see how different and interesting ideas we all have. We are really grateful for this opportunity of letting our creativity flow while doing something with an educational and eye-opening impact for many young people.

In May and June we will be visiting many youth centers over Estonia to implement these rooms for young people to participate in. If you want us to visit your youth center, don’t hesitate to contact us! Shokkin Group members are invited to test our rooms already on 21st of April and our two rooms plus a surprise room will also be present at Tallinn Old Town days.
