“Shokkin Kamp: Your Decision to Act!“ is a local ESC solidarity project implemented by Shokkin Group Estonia, funded by the European Solidarity Corps and supported by the Estonian National Agency Noorteagentuur and Tallinna Spordi ja Noorsooamet. The project consists of five 24-hour events which involve youngsters aged 16-24 from Estonia.
The 4th edition (and almost last!) of our Shokkin Kamp took place in our favourite Kloogaranna Noortelaager in the beginning of November 2019. Participants arrived in the morning of Saturday after 1 hour train ride and a small walk in the Estonian forest. After some time to settle down, have some snacks and start the first conversations, everyone got to know each other through different games and tasks, and also we learnt more about the nature of the project and the organization behind (Shokkin Group Estonia) with a brief presentation.
We also discussed the idea of creating valuable products and services that create some sort of social impact around us.
Interesting fact: There were already four kamps, and initially we thought that by that time we would have the same participants and everyone would know each other. But it turned out that each Kamp we have among us new faces and that is incredible!
The day continued with discovering the meaning of the word “entrepreneurship” and getting to know what kind of person an entrepreneur should be, what qualities he/she should possess. We also discussed the idea of creating valuable products and services that create some sort of social impact around us.
Later we played games on entrepreneurial skills such as decision-making, financial management, communication and team-work. The day ended and we did not even realize it, but everyone felt it, because we were quite tired after such a day. Still, we had some strength to play board games, chat a little and enjoy the evening together. The strongest ones even stayed to watch a movie in a cosy atmosphere with blankets and tea!
The second day, Sunday, started with a delicious breakfast and an energizing game so everyone could wake the minds up. The team of “Insight from Inside” managed to do a marvellous workshop about knowing yourself, finding your own blind spots and understanding your feelings and actions. We even had a little time to meditate and youngsters kindly explained how to do that.
Later we learned the art of pitching ideas and the “elevator pitch” technique. It was super fast, super fun and super brainstorming exercise! The kamp ended with summarizing the results and a brief evaluation. We all enjoyed this two days experience and will see each other on the last Shokkin Kamp “Your Decision to Act” VOL.5 in December!
