Description

“Gamechangers” is a long-term educational programme for educators and youth workers from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia which aims to provide its participants with competencies for designing and developing their own educational games and with practical knowledge on competence-based learning, educational game design and civic education.

The first mobility of the programme took place in Estonia in October 2019 and it covered the introduction to game-based learning, game development principles, practical sessions on creating own game concepts, testing the concepts, documenting games and reflecting on the application of such methodology in the education and youth work fields. 

Participants developed a total of 9 educational games on various topics such as emotional intelligence, environmental sustainability, multicultural communication or project management, which have been tested with their target groups and developed further during the 4-month interphase.

Second stage: Gamechangers Fest

“Gamechangers Fest: Games changing people and society” is an open and free of charge festival which will take place on 15th and 16th of February in Saint Petersburg with the following objectives:

  • To learn about educational games that promote positive changes in society from the experience of participants from different countries;
  • To network with an international group of educators who develop and use games for educational purposes;
  • To present the nine new games developed by the Gamechangers program participants;
  • To presentat ARTa, Shokkin Group and Theodor Heuss Kolleg and their activities in the field of game-based learning and civic education;
  • To discuss the role of educational games in learning processes.

Participant’s profile

The festival is an open space for teachers, trainers, NGO employees, and youth workers, as well as experienced authors and game developers who will conduct/present their own games. Even if you have never developed/facilitated games, this festival is also for you if you are an educator interested to start facilitating educational games.

The festival is open for participants over 18 years of age coming from Estonia, Finland, Latvia and Lithuania.

What is included

Participation in the festival is free of charge for all program and external participants. For external educators, youth workers and/or game developers, participation in the festival includes:

  • 50% of travel expenses reimbursed up to a maximum 40 EUR.
  • Free accommodation during the festival (night of 15th to 16th of February)
  • Breakfast and lunch during the festival (on 15th and 16th of February)

N.B.: The program doesn’t cover Visa costs, which are reponsibility of participants. Online visa is available from October the 1st for nationals of 53 countries for the Saint Petersburg and Leningrad regions. For more information, visit https://evisa.kdmid.ru/en-US.
