From 23d till 30th of September our 4 brave and talented Shokkin members took part in a fascinating youth exchange in Udabno (desert) in Georgia. People from 6 countries (Armenia, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Czech Republic, Latvia and Georgia) gathered in that mysterious eco-migrants´ village as to discuss social participation of youth in the local community and how graffiti can be a tool as to express ideas about cultural diversity. The exchange brought awesome results!
We were painting the local school and also interacting with the kids and trying to give them inspiration and motivation to be more involved in the life of their village!
Here is some feedback from our participants.
Karina: For me “YE – Express Yourself Though Graffiti” was one of those life-changing projects. At first, I doubted about going to a deserted place in Georgia and that I will skip some of my lessons, but it was 100% worth it! No regrets at all! Because of the wonderful and inspiring people, that I was spending time with 24h. Because of the incredibly beautiful surroundings of Udabno. It was the first time that I held spray can in my hands and I really enjoyed making some urban art with it. We also worked with local kids, which was new for me, but still exciting! Thanks to this project for motivating and inspiring me, to draw more. Now we have a lot of joint plans with other participants and it’s great! What is even more great, is that my sketch book started living again 🙂
Renat: Hi there. I was a participant in this program. First off all I’d like to Thank all the organizers, and group leaders for their patience and guidance. Secondly I’d like to thank all the people involved in the process. This was my first project and I didn’t really know what to expect, as it turns out, everything was great, from the start to the finish. I’ve met and socialized with people from more than 5 countries, practiced my English speaking abilities and got to see kids smiles while bringing the colors to a little place in the middle of nowhere, called Udabno. Special thanks to Ksawery for the hospitality and being a Man that just went for it with the whole Oasis club thing.
And indeed we want to thank everyone involved! As soon as You go to Udabno don’t forget to check out our outcomes and enjoy a great khachapuri in Oasis Club in Udabno 🙂
