“Tell a Different Story” is a chain of two youth exchanges. First part of the project was held in Misaqtsieli, Georgia and second part will be in Trysil, Norway. Project brings together 30 youngsters from Norway, Georgia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia and Azerbaijan in order to explore the topic of active citizenship through using media and multimedia tools, with the main focus on photography as a tool.

Project aims to increase involvement level in their communities among its participants and encourage them to be more active by using photography as an instrument and raising awareness on using social media as a powerful tool for self expression and voicing their message.

For the first part participants had a chance to get to know each other and their cultures ın order to build ground for cooperation and trust in the group.

During the project the expert Diana Petriashvili from “Go Group Media” delivered workshops about Media as a powerful tool for active citizenship, she introduced the concept of the citizen journalism, shared successful campaigns and project outcomes. Also guest photographer Yuri Mechitov explained the basics of photography, what is right and what is wrong to do while taking pictures by showing examples. We participants had a chance to put the theory into practice. We were divided into teams to work on documentary photography to try out first steps and get feedback from professionals.

Participants are very excited to work on the dissemination of the project’s outcomes and looking forward to meet in Norway. The exhibition of the “story telling” photos will take place in the second part of the project, where participants will share final work.
