This year Shokkin Group received the award of “Tallinn’s Youth Organization of 2020”. In a year of uncertainty, safety measures against the Covid-19 pandemic and barely any physical meetings, Shokkin members and team still found the space to be creative and discover new approaches to projects, meetings and events, which led to the implementation of different small-scale local activities led by youth and for youth.

Activities done by the team

  • Educational game festival Gamechangers Fest in St. Petersburg with the participation of camp educators, teachers and youth workers from Tallinn.
  • International training course “MARKERS”, about graphic facilitation in youth work involving youth workers from Tallinn and also including an open visual facilitation workshop in Tallinn.
  • Game-based learning workshops for non-profit organizations in Tallinn, such as Vneformat event.
  • Production of educational game sets (Job Interview, Intercultural Talks, Pitch Perfect). With these games we conducted workshops for more than 90 young people in Tallinn and trained more than 40 teachers/youth workers.
  • E-learning course on media awareness for young people as part of the Media Literacy Accelerator.

Local initiatives taken by our members

  • Hoodie Cyphers: a series of dance events in Tallinn where 4 dance events were organized.
  • 2000s Battle: a dance event attended by more than 100 young people.
  • Six Board game evenings in various cafes and youth rooms where more than 130 young people participated.
  • Get Involved and Get Involved 2.0 youth trainings with a total of 32 young people.
  • Local partnerships: our members collaborated with local partners in various activities and programs directed at youth, notably: Youth Media Forum, Kesklinna and Lasnamäe youth centers, Ole Lukoe or the “Jalatalla” programme.

Many other small-scale events and activities were organized throughout the year in order to keep promoting youth’s active citizenship and participation. Several local and international projects led by our members had to be also postponed, but we are eagerly waiting for the situation to improve and in order to come back to more #Shokkin experiences!
