Description

Starting Up! is aimed to raise the self-esteem and self-awareness of youth with fewer opportunities. It will enable them to be active citizens, to support cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue. Participants will create skills towards social entrepreneurship and understand how they can be more active in taking decisions related to finding a job.

The project sets the following objectives:

  • To encourage youngsters to get involved with the local community.
  • To exchange best practices regarding social entrepreneurship and to stimulate entrepreneurial learning.
  • To create and disseminate video tutorials on how social entrepreneurship and taking initiative can be stimulated for youngsters coming from rural areas.
  • To get inspired and motivated by different entrepreneurs during the largest entrepreneurship fair in northwestern Spain: PontUpStore.
  • To create a community of potential entrepreneurs and enjoy this unique experience together in Pontevedra!

Participant’s profile

We are looking for participants who are familiar with entrepreneurship and who are interested in triggering a change in themselves and their communities. The youth exchange also envisions the participation of young people living in rural areas and/or those who are currently unemployed.

Additionally, participants should be between 18 and 30 years old, have at least medium level of English, and be willing and committed to actively participate in ALL sessions of the programme. Besides, participants should commit to keep to the deadlines and carry out the preparatory tasks asked for by the organizers.

Other details

The accommodation for the youth exchange is a hostel designed for people who are doing the Camino de
Santiago (pilgrims), so the bunk beds are in a common space, divided only by wooden panels (6-8 people per section). Please make sure you are ok with this type of sleeping arrangements before applying.

There will be a 30€ participation fee to be brought in cash at the beginning of the project. The money will be spent on the benefit of the activity to provide extra materials, activities and more fun times.

During the project, exclusively vegetarian/vegan food will be served. The consumption of any type of alcoholic beverage will not be allowed in the accomodation.
