Outdoor education is more than just spending time in nature. It is a powerful tool to develop life skills, enhance physical and mental resilience, and create inclusive learning experiences.
In this training, participants will gain hands-on experience with essential survival skills such as fire-making, navigation and orientation, while also strengthening their ability to facilitate group dynamics, ensure safety in outdoor settings, and use nature as a tool for mental balance.
THROUGH THIS TRAINING, PARTICIPANTS WILL:
- Develop technical outdoor skills that can be applied in youth work (e.g., fire-making, navigation, outdoor cooking, basic first aid, backpack management…).
- Gain insights into teamwork and communication in outdoor settings.
- Learn how to use nature as a tool for mental well-being, both for themselves and the young people they work with.
- Be equipped to transfer knowledge by creating an infokit that enables their youth organizations to implement outdoor learn ing experiences in their own settings.
Participant profile
- Active educators, youth workers, youth leaders who work with young people in their daily work.*
- Aged 20+ years old.
- Able to communicate in English.
- With little to no experience with outdoor education but motivated to explore and immerse themselves in this field.
- Prepared for a unique outdoor experience, including sleeping in tents, being active outdoors 90% of the time, and adapting to the long summer days in Norway where light persists for most of the day.
- Committed to organize a dissemination activity in collaboration with Shokkin Group Estonia during August 2026 (member outdoor experience).
*Priority will be given to educators/youth workers with a fitting profile who are Playversity members or who have been previously involved in the activities of Shokkin Group.

When we co-organize projects, we follow a complete preparation and follow-up cycle by holding meetings, offering support and keeping regular communication. There are different types of sending fees ranging from 40 euros to 0 euros according to your involvement in the organization. More information is sent in the official email to selected candidates.
