From 22nd to 24th of March, 14 youngsters came together to practice their English skills and to learn more about the art of storytelling. The two groups of participants were from Tallinn Linnamäe Russian Lyceum and Tamsalu Gymnasium, where the youth meeting was held. During these three days the youngsters worked on various aspects of storytelling – for example, the importance of storytelling, debating and giving reasons, improvisation and creativity.
“This project has brought different kinds of emotions, the good ones. There was an opportunity to practice English and Estonian in an informal atmosphere. I’m glad that I took part of this project because I had a chance to speak Estonian with native speakers. But I also had to speak English to work in teams because we had to understand each other somehow. I also met a lot of people. Some of them I knew in kindergarten. It was really good to see my best friend from kindergarten after 11 or 12 years not seeing each other. So to conclude, I can say that I really liked this project.” – Carolina
The participants also created a lot of new fictional tales and let their creativity went wild. The youngsters had to improvise and come up with stories for different tasks.
“A man in space is eating space food. He was sitting in a tree, in the tree he found a treasure. In the treasure box was written, that the real treasure is hidden in a swamp. Turns out that the treasure was a microscope. The next day he was looking at a sunflower with the microscope. He saw his friend while looking at a flower and waved at Him. Then came a half-robot man, who stole the microscope. The spaceman was in a hurry and didn’t chase the thief. The end!” – Martin, Ivan, Vitali
As a result of the project, the youngsters also created a map using their own stories which had happened in Estonia. As the three days of fun were over, the participants returned home with sacks full of great knowledge, new experiences and unforgettable memories.
