Description

A training course focused on improving skills of youth workers to communicate effectively with youngsters verbally and visually.

“Get Across” is a training course organized by the Malta UNESCO Youth Association including 30 youth workers and youth leaders from Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Kosovo, Poland, Lithuania, Finland and Spain.

This training aims to:

  • reflect on the communication approaches used by youth worker to reach young people.
  • foster common understanding of effective communication techniques appropriate in youth work.
  • build up the public speaking and verbal communication skills of participants.
  • introduce visual facilitation techniques to youth workers / youth leaders as a way of structuring
    information for engaging young people.
  • practice visual thinking and facilitation techniques for involving young people in organisation’s
    activities.
  • promote the value of youth involvement and volunteering amongst young people in Malta via
    “field work” activities.
  • develop an action plan for engaging communication at an organisational level.

Participant’s profile

Participants should work with young people on a regular basis (teacher, youth worker, social worker, youth leader, educator, trainer, camp leader), be at least 18 years old, have good level of English, and be willing and committed to actively participate in ALL sessions of the programme.

Besides, participants should commit to keep to the deadlines, carry out the preparatory tasks asked for by the organizers, and be willing to follow‐up on the training course in co‐operation with their sending organisation.
