Project: Shokkin Kamp: Re-empowering youth
Format: 24-48 hour events
Time frame: From April to December 2022
We are looking for up to two local project coordinators who will join the team already involved. In order to apply you don’t need to be a Shokkin Group member, but you will be required to become one in case you are selected for the position. You should apply for this vacancy if you want to:
- Improve your ability to work in a team.
- Practice working mainly in English.
- Improve your skills in communication, leadership, facilitation, problem solving, etc.
- Be involved throughout the life of the project (April-December 2022).
- Discover the insights of project management in the field of youth work and non-formal education.
- Learn about each one of the topics to which Kamps will be dedicated.
- Try out being in charge of tasks such as content planning/logistics/promotion in a safe environment with support and guidance.
About the kamps
The format of the activities is a 24-48 hour youth kamp (1 or 2 nights event), where we will gather participants from various parts of Estonia and various backgrounds. Each event will take place out of Tallinn in a puhkekeskus and will be implemented by the team of this solidarity project involving a few experts and active members of the NGO.
Objectives
- To create and nurture a space for youth to collaborate and initiate ideas for development in their communities;
- To provide youth from different backgrounds and places in Estonia with a meeting point to learn about each other;
- To introduce non formal education and the different European schemes available for youth regarding volunteering, education and training.
- To involve young people in the life of a youth organization and encourage them to take an active role in the society.
Topics
Kamp 1 | Career Choice | 7th-8th May
A kamp based on the human library format that will give participants the opportunity to speak with successful experts in different industries and learn about their career history and path to success, as well as how to use your skills and passion for career building.
Kamp 2 |Arts & Handcrafts | 13th-15th June
Dedicated to explore different types of arts and handcrafts, including reflective/calming techniques to introducing youth to arts as a tool for self discovery and expression, exploring the work of local artists.
Kamp 3 | Dance & Music | 14th-16th August
Dedicated to discovering various dancing styles and music-making techniques (analog instruments, digital music editing formats), allow participants to learn the basics and learn more about the, literally, “backstage” of the field.
Kamp 4 | Safe technologies & Blogging | 22nd-23rd October
Will focus on the use of social media and video making for personal branding, with a special focus of cyber security. By inviting bloggers/influencers, we will be able to give participants the opportunity to look at it from the preparation perspective.
Kamp 5 | Theater & Improvisation | 17th-18th December
A kamp to get out of the comfort zone, explore improv theater as a way to influence the self- confidence and public speaking skills, explore scenic arts as a link with creativity, emotional intelligence and social skills.
Vacancy characteristics
Project coordinators will have periodic preparation meetings in order to divide responsibilities and prepare the structure and content of the event, as well as to agree on the practical arrangements and promotion activities to be carried out. The expected contribution from each coordinator is approximately 2 hours per week apart from each event. Coordinators will receive a Shokkin Group package and an official certificate of participation in the project.
