“Take the Lead” was a seven-day Erasmus+ training course implemented by Shokkin Group and hosted by the sociocultural center Villa Leipzig in Germany. It brought together more than twenty participants from diverse countries, professions, and backgrounds.

The training aimed to equip attendees with the skills and knowledge needed to become confident group leaders and comprehensive session facilitators so that there can be an improvement in the quality of international youth projects.

From the several topics covered, I learned many things, from competence-based approach to understanding the significance of focusing on competencies in leadership development. Also, we explored different leadership styles and their impact on group dynamics, understanding the principles and benefits of non-formal education in youth projects.

I obtained a deeper understanding of effective mentoring techniques and how to support team members. This is where gaining insights into giving and receiving constructive feedback was so important for me, because as a teacher it is a critical topic to improve my work with students.

The methodology emphasized hands-on experiences and interactive sessions, including team-building activities and project incubation exercises. Participants were encouraged to engage in knowledge-building and personal growth throughout the training.

I found the training to be immersive and challenging. This great experience has also given me valuable new friendships and networking that have enriched my professional and personal life.
