The second international activity of the youth participation activity “SafeNet” was organized in France from 6th to 12th of April with a focus on personal data management and advocacy. Here are the impressions of the Estonian team:

“Heading into this project I had the expectation of participating in a realistic simulation of the EU Parliament and I was very curious what workshops would there be. The most interesting thing was the simulation itself, because it’s the thing that I’ve done before, but this time it was made well and it was really interesting to communicate with others trying to make a compromise.

I already knew quite a bit about the topics that we discussed (personal data management and online secutiry) but is still gave a good fundamental knowledge for people that didn’t know that much. I will definitely use the information I got because it’s something we use in everyday life and it makes your online life more secure. A good memory was visiting the ocean for the first time. I’ve never seen anything like that before and it made a big impression on me!”

“Before the youth exchange, I was looking forward to experiencing the European Parliament simulation, which ended up being the most interesting part of the youth exchange for me. The key learning for me was that it’s best to be confident and open, both of which are skills that I struggle with. I will use that learning in my everyday life. A nice moment from this youth exchange that I will remember are the evenings spent chatting with my friends and other participants.

“Honestly, it was the best youth exchange I have ever been to. The place was very nice and people so friendly and activities great, too!”

Jegor

“It was really awesome. I made so many friends during this and it was the perfect amount of freetime and workshops. I loved also that we didn’t have a lot of restrictions. It was so much fun I would totally do it again!”

Meribell

“This is far from my first project, and it was the first time I encountered such unique workshops. I also really liked that there was plenty of free time to walk around the city and just spend time with the other participants. All in all, the venue could have been better, but overall it was a very good experience!

Lorena

“It was very nice. I enjoyed the activities and playing volleyball almost everyday. Meeting new people who I still talk to is also awesome. The project theme and getting to experience the European Parliament simulation was really cool. Overall it was a really fun experience.”
