From 2nd to 9th of March we met with our partners in the small town of Caprarola (Italy) to learn more about LARPs and start crafting stories for the hybrid board game that is being designed under the “Gamify+” project.
During the training we discovered an exciting world of freeform and chamber larps. Looked at LAOGs and created our own prototypes that are connected to exploring the topic of media literacy:
“This meeting opened a whole new world of games (as educational tools) for me. I had previously only barely touched upon LARPs, so I didn’t have a clear idea of what they are and what purpose they could serve in education. I’m glad I had the chance to dive deeper into LARPs and LAOGs. I appreciate everyone’s dedicated participation and the balance between playing, analyzing and designing games.”

“Working in an Italian location was very inspiring and we could gratefully live a cultural exchange I´ll always remember. The atmosphere built with it gave us a metaphorical canvas to start designing different hybrid games. I learned about Live Action Role Play (LARP) led by the hosting organization called Chaos League. Experiencing these games and designing some based on media literacy with similar mechanics was fruitful. I am looking forward to continuing this project.”

We are excited to host the next meeting in Tallinn and share our expertise of escape games with the rest of the group!
