The intersection of play and education took center stage in Poland at the “EduGame: Artefact Expo” international seminar, bringing together youth workers, educators, and game designers from across Europe. This program was designed to explore how game-based learning can address real-world challenges. The core focus of the event was both theoretical and practical, combining Game Design and Role Playing theory sessions with challenges that pushed participants to design and implement their own games as powerful, non-formal educational tools. It also aimed to bring together a community of like minded people that shared and collaborated looking to engage and empower the next generation of educators.
“I wasn’t sure what to expect, since it was my first time participating in an event like this. I was hoping to find like minded people who shared the same vision of leveraging games and play to solve real life problems. Personally, I found most interesting the multiple angles that each participant brought to the table, I love to see the different ways they designed and use this tools for multiple causes, it made me realize the reach a really engaging tool can have in the right hands.
The key learning for me was a validation of what I been thinking for the last 10 years: that games and play can be more than just entertainment, and that they are very powerful tools if you know how and when to use them. I come back inspired, and I will share the different methods, activities and resources I gained during this days to my fellow educators, as well as my own community of life learners.”

“For me it was a very helpful seminar that showed me how important it is to think outside the box. At my school, I will try to use the methods that I learned, especially the methods demonstrated by the other participants. It was very important and inspiring that the participants were so experienced and professional, while I was still new to this type of games, so I learned a lot from them. With this experience, I plan to apply these new ideas in my future projects and continue improving my creative thinking. Thank you for your professionalism!”
