April, everybody is hardworking at school, dreaming about summer. We decided to make a break. Break, like coffee break that adults usually do at work. We call it Shokkin break for 24 hours. Together with 30 youngsters we went to Harmi Põhikool. The topic of our event was “Shokkin Detective Kamp”.
We arrived to the place and then we started to play the name games. Youngsters didn’t know each other before, but one of the purposes of going to Shokkin Kamp was to meet new friends with common interests of having active lifestyle out of their “computer zone”. Then we started creating a team playing ice-breaking and team building games. During the 24 hours we had a dance workshop, evening by the fireplace with the guitar, theatre of improvisation and detective night game, where participants had to investigate the murder.
The purpose of this event was to show youngsters alternative way of spending their free time in active ways. To fight with their fears of meeting new people and to get into a diferent situations, from which they have to find the way out by using gamification methods and theatre of improvisation. We strongly believe that people can discover themselves when they are out of their comfort zone.
