After a way too long pause in our local and international activities, it finally feels like it’s time to re-start our shokkiness and continue where we left it: striving for high-quality educational and development opportunities for young people in Estonia.

How was the previous year?

For sure, 2021 wasn’t an easy year. The still ongoing situation made it very hard to implement our usual training activities both at local and international level. However, it doesn’t mean nothing was done! With the support of our members and partners we:

  • ran the Hoodie Cyphers series in both summer 2020 and 2021;
  • organized two board game evenings;
  • implemented the online program Gamechangers;
  • hosted the online SGI Getaway Weekend;
  • implemented the offline training weekend “Get Involved 2.0”;
  • took part in the 2020 edition of the Youth Media Forum;
  • were awarded with “Tallinn’s Youth Organization of 2020”;
  • organized the 3-day online game festival Gamechangers Fest in March 2021;
  • hosted three international project meetings in Tallinn;
  • organized an international outdoor youth exchange in August 2021;
  • ran and sent participants to projects in France, Italy and Malta.

What will happen in 2021/22?

Next year will be characterized by plenty of long-term projects and local actions, about which you can read more in our website’s “Ongoing Activities”. Here is a taster of what we have waiting for us at the corner of 2022:

  • Training Courses for youth workers/leaders in Estonia, France, Spain, Georgia, Poland, Germany or Slovakia .
  • A new edition of the Gamechangers game development program with Baltic countries.
  • Long-term projects which include local and international training activities, testing events and conferences:

“Emplayability”:a partnership between Spain, France, Italy, Croatia and Estonia focused on creating game-based methods that allow young people to discover the topic of employability.
“Breakout Box”: a project between Estonia, Spain and Czechia that will develop and produce escape boxes that can be played by small groups of youth as well as scaled to large classrooms.
“Critical Escape”:  a local project dedicated to developing and implementing educational escape rooms on the topic of migration together with young people.
“Learn2Play”:  a partnership between Malta, Poland and Estonia specially directed at youth workers/managers/educators who would like to use educational games for soft skill development.
“Recalibur”: a project between Estonia, Italy, Slovakia, Austria and Denmark to explore ecopsychology and creative methodologies in youth work.
“Critical Thinkers”: a project between Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania aimed at developing blended online and offline educational materials on media literacy and critical thinking.

Besides, 2021 marks the 10-year anniversary of Shokkin Group, and we are planning to celebrate it in a proper way! 😉
